How to Vote By Mail
What you need to know
- You must be registered to vote to request an Absentee Ballot
- Voters can apply for an Absentee Ballot as early as 78 days before an election
- No reason needs to be given to request an Absentee Ballot
- Elderly or Disabled voters can choose to receive all ballots for an entire Election Cycle by checking the "Elderly or Disabled" box on their application
- If someone is temporarily outside of the County, 65 years of age or older or is physically disabled, a relative can request a ballot for them (Please refer to the actual application for a list of persons that can request a ballot for you)
- Absentee requests can be in the form of a letter, application and can be mailed, faxed or emailed. All requests must be signed @(Model.BulletStyle == CivicPlus.Entities.Modules.Layout.Enums.BulletStyle.Decimal ? "ol" : "ul")>
UOCAVA (Uniformed & Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act)
U.S. Citizens who are absent Uniformed Service Members, their eligible family members and citizens residing outside of the U.S.
- Must complete an Absentee Ballot Application (Make sure to check the "UOCAVA" box) or a Federal Post Card Application and mail, email or fax the form to our office
- The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) can also help you
- You may request for have your ballot mailed, emailed or faxed to you
- Your completed ballot must be returned to our office by mail
FYI's
- Submit your application as soon as possible, make sure to fill out the form completely
- The Friday before the Election is the last day we can mail ballots out
- We must receive your ballot in our office prior to 7:00 pm on Election Day for it to be counted (this does not apply to UOCAVA voters)
- Make sure you completely fill out the back of the Yellow Oath Envelope @(Model.BulletStyle == CivicPlus.Entities.Modules.Layout.Enums.BulletStyle.Decimal ? "ol" : "ul")>

Applications can be accepted 78 days prior to any Election, ballots will be mailed 49-45 days prior to Election Day for UOCAVA Voters, and 29-25 days prior to Election Day for all other voters.
